This excellent article in the UK Independent takes a very human look at the climate change impacts already ravaging Bangladesh, and at the nation's uncertain future. Especially relevant to Vietnam--the reporter's ground-check of the claims of scientists who believe the IPCC's predictions on sea-level rise in their 2007 report were far too conservative.
According to most researchers,Vietnam and Bangladesh are among the five or so nations most threatened by sea-level rise.

Báo Độc lập (Independent): Bangladesh sẽ biết mất dưới biển vào cuối thế kỷ này
Đây là một bài báo xuất sắc của từ báo Anh Independent nhìn nhận khía cạnh con người về ảnh hưởng của biến đổi khí hậu đã trực tiếp ảnh hưởng đến Bangladesh, và tương lai không chắc chắn của quốc gia. Đặc biệt liên quan đến Việt Nam- Tác giả đã kiếm chứng những công bố của các nhà khoa học những người tin rằng dự đoán của IPCC về mực nước biển dâng trong báo cáo năm 2007 là đã bị lỗi thời.
Theo đa số các nhà nghiên cứu, Việt Nam và Bangladesh là hai trong số năm quốc gia bị đe dọa nghiêm trọng nhất bởi mực nước biển dâng.

If you receive a bulletin but prefer not to in the future, please simply follow the unsubscribe link and accept our apologies.
Those who do continue to receive the bulletin will receive weekly information on Vietnamese and global developments in climate change and green building, the activities of the Vietnam Green Building Council, and related events. This information will be in both Vietnamese and English.
With the VGBC bulletin list members will also receive AdaptNet, a weekly roundup of reports and articles on climate change adaptation, a service of the Global Cities Institute of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technologies. VGBC has translated the AdaptNet bulletin since September, 2007.
So, with our compliments, we present the inaugural VGBC bulletin, which we hope will provide you with the tools and information you'll need to address the important issues of sustainability and climate change in the built environment.

The central VGBC working group has completed a summary analysis of international green rating systems, some well known (LEED, BREEAM, CASBEE) and some less known (Living Building Standard, Green Globes, Built Green, SBTool). Comparisons of LEED and BREEAM against a "typical Vietnamese commercial building" were also completed. These exercises have advanced the buildings group's strategy of drawing upon successful and relevant approaches from many different sources...
